We finished viewing the following from "12 Years a Slave": scene 27 to the burning of the letter; scene 31 to where Patsy is tied to the post (to watch past this is VERY graphic); and scene 34 to where Solomon's wagon is rolling well down the lane. Be sure to record many notes and reflections. Also, add to your paper a note of which part of the film that we viewed was the most thought-provoking for you and why (bullet-point notes is fine). Finally, email me and I will reply with an attachment of a slide of images that shows Patsy and also shows the actress Lupita Nyong'o (not in character) so you can add deep-thinking notes of reflection about humanity, images, perceptions, and treatment of others. KEEP this note page to use in our "12 Years a Slave" AND "Lincoln" Socratic discussion to be held next week. We began individual, scored "Context & Lens" work on "Lincoln" -- to be finished in class tomorrow. If you were absent, see me to set up a time to make up this assessment. ; )
