We then began reading essay #5 in the black book (Portrait...) found on pp.50-63 -- "African Americans and the Quest for Civil Rights" by Sean Dennis Cashman. That reading will be continued in class Monday; your only homework is the already-assigned reading from the white text that is due next Thursday.
